Overview

'Turbo Drift' is a frantic racing game which was made in C++.

Drawing inspiration from games such as 'Joe Danger' and 'Trials Fusion', the aim is to reach the finish line in the shortest time possible.

Hazards such as mines and lasers affect your vehicle and will make you lose time.

Role
Working in solo, I used this project as an opportunity to explore using C++ in Unreal.

This involved a significant amount of research on the format of C++ compared with Blueprint.

With the vehicle handling model in place, I was able to focus on the optimising the look and feel, including the 3D models and lighting.

Outcome
I succeeded in producing a fun C++ game in spite of the very aggressive timescales.
Upon submission, the game was awarded a First with an overall score of 75%.

Feedback praised the vehicle handling model and the the in which the game was able to save and share each player's best times.
